The Differences between the ICCF Registry & the CCAA Club

 

The ICCF Registry is privately owned and operated by Ed & Kris Hodas. The ICCF Registry was established in 1993 by The Hodas’s for the registration of the Cane Corso.  The ICCF Registry does not register any other breed of dog.

The CCAA Club was also established in 1993 by Ed & Kris Hodas, along with Mark & Tracy Wilson. The CCAA club is a not for profit organization dedicated to educating people about and preserving the breed.  Over the past 10 years, both the Club and the Registry have grown immensely.

Below are a few differences between the Club and the Registry that people get confused about.

ICCF Registry Titles:  (Non-CCAA Club members that register their dogs ICCF can earn an ICCF title from the Registry)

ICCF Championship & ICCF Grand Championship (conformation):

Scale of Points:  Each dog shall receive 1 point for each dog it defeats, of its own sex, up to 5 points.  3 points will constitute a major win.  At least one major has to be in breed (not group).

ICCF Champion:  A dog will need at least 2 major wins under different judges, plus minor points for a total 15.  At least one major has to be in breed (not group).

An ICCF Grand Championship title will be awarded to any dog or bitch that accumulates a total of 80 points (15 from regular championship, 2 five point majors in a specialty and minor points). A dog that wins first place in group will receive a 3 point major, or the # of points for its Breed, whichever is greater. For More Information, contact the ICCF Registry. 

CCAA Club Titles:  (These titles are given out by the CCAA Club every year, and are only available to CCAA club members.)

Dog of the Year, Bitch of the Year and Puppy of the Year:   These are the Cane Corsi that accrues the most points during the calendar year.  The points are accrued by the number of Cane Corsi the dog has beaten at conformation.  All points are taken from the ICCF Registry win sheets that were sent into Registry during the calendar year.   Puppy of the Year points can be accrued from 6 to 15 months of age.

Working Dog & Bitch of the Year:  Any ICCF registered dog or bitch that is owned by a CCAA member that has earned the most Working points during the calendar year.  The point scale is described on the Working link.  You must fill out Working Trial sheets from the working committee and mail the trial sheet into the working committee to earn these points.  

Reproductive Champion: This new title will be awarded to any club member’s dog that produces a specified number of ICCF Champions in its lifetime.   Males must produce 6 ICCF Champions to earn the title and females must produce 4 ICCF Champions.  The start date for this title is Jan 1^st, 2004. Dogs that have championed before Jan 1^st, 2004 will not count.

If you join the CCAA club halfway through a calendar year, only the points or working trials that you have earned while being a club member will count toward these titles.  If you have any questions regarding CCAA club titles, please contact Mike Ertaskiran, CCAA President.
