Working Points

The following working certification program is for CCAA Registered Cane Corsos & Their Member Owners:

The point system for Working Dog Of The Year will begin January 1 of each year and end December 31 of each year.

Working Dog Of The Year will be determined by holding a Top 5 Working Competition each year at the CCAA Nationals.

There will no longer be win sheets needed or a 10 day limit on sending them in to the committee. If you receive an AKC title just send me a copy of your title when you receive it in the mail, with AKC this can take up to 6 weeks. If you work Sch you can send me a copy of your signed book and with the temperament tests you can send me a copy of your test. The one exception, a win sheet is needed for the IWPA for this year.

This is the CCAA working points system:

The CCAA will now be offering a Register Of Merit (ROM) award program. To receive a ROM in 2008 and 2009 a Corso must have either received an AKC or ICCF CCAA member Championship, an obedience title within the point system (AKC CD or Sch BH) and a ATTS.

For those competing in events not recognized within our point system we offer a recognition program. Please send in your accomplishments so your certificates can be issued.

Each dog competing in working events will have a permanent file set up so I ask that the first time you send in points on a dog you send me a copy of their registration along with all of your owner’s information.

The CCAA will also recognize the AKC Champion of Record. Chapter 16 Section 5.
Any dog that has been awarded the title of Champion of Record may be designated as a “Dual Champion,” after it has also been awarded the title of Field Champion or Herding Champion. The title of Dual Champion is to recognize those dogs that have shown their superiority in both adhering to the breed standard and their ability to perform the function for which the breed was developed.
Any dog that has been awarded the title of Dual Champion and the title of Obedience Trial Champion or Tracking Champion or Agility Champion may be designated as a “Triple Champion,” This title is to recognize dogs that achieve the title of Dual Champion and continue to excel in non breed specific American Kennel Club events.
When the Corso has been fully recognized we will be applying for acceptance to receive an AKC Herding Championship.

CCAA Working Dog of the Year
The Top 5 pointed Corsi will compete in a work off work working corso of the year. This work off will be held at the Corso Nationals each year. In order to be eligible for the WDY award Owner must be a Member of the CCAA in good standing for the entire calendar year.
