Breeder of the Year
Any breeder in good standing with the CCAA who has achieved the most points in the pertaining calendar year (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31).
Points* are earned as follows:
Dog of the Year**
Any male dog owned by a CCAA member in good standing during the pertaining year, who has achieved the most points in the pertaining calendar year (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31). Points* are earned 1 per dog defeated in BOB wins and/or BOS wins.
Bitch of the Year**
Any female dog owned by a CCAA member in good standing during the pertaining year, who has achieved the most points in the pertaining calendar year (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31). Points* are earned 1 per dog defeated in BOB wins and/or BOS wins.
Puppy of the Year**
Any dog or bitch owned by a CCAA member in good standing during the pertaining year, who has achieved the most points in the pertaining calendar year (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31) and is still under the age of 2 years on or by Dec. 31 of the aforementioned year. Points* are earned 1 per dog defeated in BOB wins and/or BOS wins.
Owner-Handled Cane Corso of the Year**
Any dog or bitch owned by a CCAA member in good standing during the pertaining year, who has achieved the most points in the pertaining series year. Points are tracked in accordance with the The National Owner-Handled Series Rankings, as defined by the AKC and reported by The Canine Chronicle. This award is through the 2023 NOHS year and then the awards below will be in effect starting with the 2024 NOHS year.
Owner-Handled Dog of the Year**
Any dog owned by a CCAA member in good standing during the pertaining year, who has achieved the most points in the pertaining series year. Points are tracked in accordance with the The National Owner-Handled Series Rankings, as defined by the AKC and reported by The Canine Chronicle. This award is effective starting with the 2024 NOHS year.
Owner-Handled Bitch of the Year**
Any bitch owned by a CCAA member in good standing during the pertaining year, who has achieved the most points in the pertaining series year. Points are tracked in accordance with the The National Owner-Handled Series Rankings, as defined by the AKC and reported by The Canine Chronicle. This award is effective starting with the 2024 NOHS year.
Veteran Cane Corso of the Year**
CCAA Veteran Cane Corso of the Year is awarded to any dog or bitch owned by a CCAA member in good standing during the pertaining year, who has achieved the most points in the pertaining calendar year (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31). Points* are earned 1 per dog defeated from the Veteran class(es) therefore the veteran animal with the most defeats among other veteran class entries for the pertaining year, irrespective of the result from the subsequent breed class result(s), will be awarded, updated 02/22/2023.
Member’s Choice Award**
Any dog or bitch owned by a CCAA member in good standing during the pertaining year is eligible to be nominated for this award. This award will recognize achievements by any member-owned Cane Corso that are not by way of traditional conformation and companion events. Examples include hunting, herding, therapy, dock diving, farm/ranch work, etc.
The following rules apply:
** To be considered for Dog, Bitch and/or Puppy of the Year, Owner-Handled Cane Corso of the Year, Veteran Cane Corso of the Year and Member’s Choice Award, the membership of at least one owner needs to be in good standing with no lapse from the year prior to the pertaining year. This will be in effect starting with 2014 awards.
Any breeder in good standing with the CCAA who has achieved the most points in the pertaining calendar year (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31).
Points* are earned as follows:
- 1 per dog defeated in BOB wins and/or BOS wins by dogs produced by the breeder per AKC year-end reporting.
- Each Champion produced will receive 15 points for dogs defeated in the classes to earn the CH, regardless of how many it defeated in doing so.
- AKC CH: 100 points
- AKC GCH: 50 points
- CCAA Reproductive CH: 150 points
- CCAA GCH: 200 points
- CCAA Breeder’s Cup Winner: 150 points
- BOB won at a National Specialty: 150 points
- BOS won at a National Specialty: 125 points
- WD/WB won at a National Specialty: 100 points
- BOB won at a Regional Specialty: 100 points
- BOS won at a Regional Specialty: 75 points
- WD/WB won at a Regional Specialty: 50 points
- Dog of the Year or Bitch of the Year: 200 points
- Puppy of the Year: 100 Points
- Passing Hip Scores (OFA Fair or better, PennHip 50th percentile or better. X-Rays taken at 12 months or older): 15 points per dog. Proof of these must be submitted to Director #3 in order to be counted and can only be for an AKC CH or AKC GCH whose title was earned in the pertaining calendar year.

Any male dog owned by a CCAA member in good standing during the pertaining year, who has achieved the most points in the pertaining calendar year (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31). Points* are earned 1 per dog defeated in BOB wins and/or BOS wins.
Bitch of the Year**
Any female dog owned by a CCAA member in good standing during the pertaining year, who has achieved the most points in the pertaining calendar year (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31). Points* are earned 1 per dog defeated in BOB wins and/or BOS wins.

The following rules apply:
- Winners of Dog/Bitch/Puppy/Working Dog of the Year and dogs residing with a BOD member are not eligible.
- The award will be presented annually at the awards banquet.
- Nominations will be made by CCAA members.
- Nominees who wish to accept shall submit a high quality photo and a brief description of the dog’s accomplishments prior to voting.
- The winner will be the one who receives the most votes, based on CCAA member voting.

- nomination period: Dec 16 – Dec 31
- vetting period: Jan 1 – Jan 15
- voting period: Jan 16 – Jan 31
- winner announced: Feb 15

CCAA Grand Champion
Any dog or bitch owned by a CCAA member in good standing during the pertaining year in which the title is earned, that has achieved his/her AKC Championship and a total of 85 points. 15 points are given for the CH title and the remaining 70 points* must be earned by BOB and/or BOS wins where each dog defeated earns one point. Of the aforementioned 70 points, 2 wins must be 5 point majors won for BOB and/or BOS at a CCAA National or Regional Specialty. The 2 wins may occur in different years.
Reproductive Champion - Dog
Any male dog owned by a CCAA member in good standing that has produced 6 AKC Champions of record. Member/Applicants are responsible for submitting their dog and his offspring, verification is done through AKC title report. Applicant must be an AKC owner of record AND a CCAA member in good standing during the time:

Reproductive Champion - Bitch
Any female dog owned by a CCAA member in good standing that has produced 4 AKC Champions of record. Member/Applicants are responsible for submitting their bitch and her offspring, verification is done through AKC title report. Applicant must be an AKC owner of record AND a CCAA member in good standing during the time:
These requirements also apply in the case of lease arrangements.
*Breed points may be tracked by counting dogs at the show, in the show catalog, or looking at statistics available online such as Show Sight or the Canine Chronicle. Opposite points may be tracked by counting dogs at the show, or in the show catalog and are ordered in a quarterly report by CCAA from AKC.
Please submit all dogs for consideration of the Perennial Awards and any hip scores point recognition for Breeder of the Year to Director #3, Awards and Standings. Thank You!
